Well, it happened! Not like I'd expected, but nevertheless a hummingbird came to visit! My dh and I were having a swim in our pool around dusk and I got buzzed by something...so close I could feel it. I only saw it with the corner of my eye, but dh got very excited because he knew how hard I've been working to attract them. I wasn't expecting to see it that close, but just so happy one finally came! I think it was feeding at the mandevillas right near the pool.

What took them so long! Now they will start spreading the word to their fellow buzzers. Before you know it you will be overrun HB Well done!

Oooh I hope so. Hopefully next time I can appreciate from a distance and not have to duck! I guess it wanted to make sure I noticed it.

I didn't see it this evening, but we did have the kids out with us...and they are noisy enough to scare any self-respecting hummingbird.

Anna, I am so glad you finally got your hummer, I hope you have many more.
My sister used to put feeders out, they would come in droves from the woods in back of their house, literally hundreds of the little fellows. I have never seen anything like it before or since.

Sharon....I'd be in HEAVEN to see that! I used to get about 3 that would visit. One would stake out the feeder and chase the others away...chittering all they way.....
I haven't seen it come back, but I think my kids are too noisy.....sometimes I wish I could hid too!
