Found this flowering the Alpine House. No label and I do not remember planting it. Certain it is a bulb, if only because of the strap like leaves. The flower is about 2 cms across.
Anyone any ideas?

I am bumping this back up in hopes that someone out there will see it and know what it is. It is an absolutely wonderful flower and I would love to know it's identity so I can see if they will grow here. Lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!1

After doing a lot of searching I have come to the conclusion that it is a Chionodoxa luciliae, flowering at totally the wrong time and in a place where I did not plant it.
If it is, they are easy and hardy and sold widely in the UK.

I thought Chionodoxa luciliae flowered in spring Eric. Confused However, in saying that, I have flag iris flowering here at the moment.

I am still waiting for a bulb expert to agree or disagree with my id. Their common name is 'Glory of the Snow' so you can see when the normally flower. This is a self seeded one if it is, something I do not remember happening before either.

I am no bulb expert, but I looked at a lot of the Chionodoxa luciliae pictures and I am just not convinced. I also looked at a lot of other bulb pictures and saw nothing tht resembled your flower. I am stumped. I wonder if ZuZu knows what it is.

Just had a reply from an expert on Bulbs. He thinks it is Brodiaea pallida. However, I have never bought or grown from seed this one, BUT a long time ago I did have seed of B. minor SO it might be that or mislabelled seed and be as the man says. Either way it does not seem to be commercially available in Britain
Brodiaea are an American genus in the Lily family.

Wow, I just googled it and that is it. How awesome to have such a beautiful flower just appear. I am glad to know what it is because it just aggravates me not to know the name of a flower I have never seen before.
