I got this book that's about making concrete Garden art...and I saw something that others might be interested in. You can imbed steel nails, nuts, washers, bolts, etc. in your hypertufa objects and it will RUST! You can create designs and patterns like a mosaic. I was going to try this and then I dumbly realized that my nails were galvanized so I need to go get some others to use. They should be cheaper anyway. :D

Neat idea hummingbird. Also if folks want to add the fibers that strengthen concrete and can't find them, if you pruchase One Kote stucco premium, it comes with the fibers already added. Another tip for strengthening is to use an additive available in the concrete supplies. It is a liquid bonding agent.
We need our pretties as strong as we can get them so they last a lifetime, right? I have been inspired and now I am going to make something to rust. Where i live there are old dumping grounds out in the desert with plenty of interesting old metal objects. I used to help my kids make things on boards with them but this sounds like a new twist on an old idea. Thanks!

You know, some of those "gears" would look really amazing if you can find them.

Also the book said you can use steel wool fibers mixed in as a strenghtener...that stuff will rust like crazy!

Who would have thought of using an old bra for a mold?

Yes they would. I think I will get ready to go shopping in my favorite spot...the dump. My hubby told me if I didn't stop gatherg junk from these old dumps I would be accused of illeagel dumping. Unfortunately some people still just go out in the desert and dump thier trash rather than pay at the dump site). But that's another topic altogether!
And if I can stop my hands shaking long enough to take a pic that is not blurry, you will be able to see what I come up with.

I think I'm going to have to go digging in my lingerie drawer....I really like the idea of a bra with barbed wire...kind of a "look! But don't touch!" kind of vibe.....

I really like this artist's work too.....
