I posted this on the 9th march , wayhay after 2 1/2 months I 've finally got them to germinate , tiny and still at the seed leaf stage but germinated none the less . In gardening patience and perseverance is the name of the game

Well done Dooley.  I got mine to the 2-3 inch stage and then planted them in the garden. I only planted 6 but 2 have already died and I think a third is about to follow. Just after they were planted out we had torrential rain for over a week. I think they drowned.

Eileen, you are probably right....they drowned. Lavender likes it dry. I lost a large one two years ago because of rain everyday that June. This year the one out in the bed that doesn't get much water is huge and blooming like never before. Soon as the blooms are in full color I will get a picture.

Right that does it.  Rain is forecast here for the next few days, again, and the temperature is dropping so I'm moving my surviving lavender to a drier bit of the garden where it will be more protected!! Thanks for the help Toni. 
Looking forward to seeing a piccie of yours and if mine stay alive and grow I'll post one too.

I wish I had been able to take a picture of that big lavender but it did not make it thru the summer. In May it was loaded with flower stems at least 3 feet long with buds on the last 4-5 inches of each stem. But then the heat hit, the buds never opened and by mid-August all the moisture in the plant had been sucked out of
it. It was another of those that no amount of watering could keep alive and it might have still been stressed from being moved in late fall.

Hi Ruthie,Glad to have you on the stew .I have never tried to grow lavender in Texas.Do you know if it would grow in South Central Texas? I hate to plant something and then watch it die.
