My back was feeling almost normal today and the yard needed to be mowed, so I got out the mower and started mowing. Pretty soon my yard mowing buddy showed up. He is an Eastern Flycatcher. As I mow small bugs and moths get scared up out of out of the grass and he swoops down and gets them. I think he finally got full, because after an hour I didn't see him any more. I know I saw him get at least 20 bugs. He probably went to take a nap and let his feast digest!

We don't have flycatchers here in Scotland but our Robins do exactly the same thing as your bird CK. They love it when we go into the garden either to cut the grass or dig in the flower beds.

My husband has a few Swallows that follow him around on the lawn tractor. They are funny to watch.

I have a shepherds crook that I hang the hummingbird feeder on right off of the front deck. This morning he was setting on it watching for bugs. But Everytime I would open the door to try and get a pic of him,he would fly off to get a bug. He finally got a huge horsefly that he could barely get it down. And he took off and didn't come back. But I will keep trying to get a pic of him.

He likes to perch on the clothes line while I am mowing too! He will set there while I drive right underneath him. I would think that the noisy tractor would scare him off. Whe I go outside he usually comes up as if to say, "Is it time to mow again?" This is the 5th or 6th year that they have been here and followed me around. Man can they ever do acrobatics in flight when they are after a bug!
