August is upon us and depending on where you are in the world either you are enjoying good weather or very wet weather (*cough* UK and Ireland). So what's in store for your garden this August? Is it just more of the same watering and weeding? Or some a little extra special?

What's in store for my garden this month appears to be triple digit temps and very little attention from me.
Come on AUTUMN!!!!!

This is hurricane season and since I'm only 10 miles from the Atlantic coast, I'm going to hold off on doing anything but trimming some loose branches that could become projectiles.
Basically a lot of maintenance to lessen the amount of yard debris should we get any bad storms.

I'm planting seeds today. Time to start wallflowers, candy lilies and hollyhocks for bloom next spring.

Good question Frank. I'm new to gardening this year, so I'm not sure what my tasks are for a zone 8. I want to try my new hanging bag planter...is it too late to grow strawberries?

Watching helplessly as the blight that I should have sprayed for defaces my lilacs. Gotta get the spraying schedules straight!
And, mowing the dandelions. And eat one of the very-rare-appearing plums. O, and harvesting the early apples before the deer hop the fence and do it for me.

I'll be busy watering (heat wave here and on the verge of drought again), weeding, deadheading, pruning, harvesting veggies, saving select seeds, and planning next years gardens.
Where did July go???

Starting on the fall veggie garden, and starting some fall flower seeds. I need to get the hollyhocks started too Bethie. I will get one to bloom someday. Taking cuttings from various plants I want to over winter for next year. I have given up on the weeds for now, too hot to tackle them. Trying to keep the grass cut, which is always a chore in Louisiana.

Well, I could install those hidden web cams Frank suggested to keep 24 hr. watch on my tomatoes. Although it may not help me catch em', I'd love to see a fruit heist in action. Other than that I'm weeding feverishly.
