My daughter & I spotted this large beauty flying in the yard, so we stalked it & took these pictures on the four-o'clocks. Then, my daughter relaxed in the grass with my sister-in-law's golden retriever.

That is a beautiful butterfly .That second shot is my favorite but both are great shots.
I hope you realize you are going to have your hands full fighting the guys away from your beautiful daughter. That hair and those wonderful blue eyes are
just magnets.

Lovely butterfly, cuddly dog and beautiful daughter. I hope you have a shotgun and a rocking chair.

Your daughter is so pretty and I have a feeling she's going to be a real stunner when she grows up. She has the most beautful eyes.

Great butterfly shots and awesome daughter. I have 2 DD's and wouldn't trade them for all the boys in the world.

Beautiful daughter you have. Yep, shotgun behind the front door is in order when she reaches middle school age.
The butterfly is a Giant Black Swallowtail, their caterpillars have green, white, black and yellow bands so don't kill them if you find them. My Fennel plants have played host to almost 2 dozen of them this summer.

Thanks for the identification of the butterfly, toni.
And I've already started promoting the idea of living in a convent to my daughter. Right now, if I ask her, what's cool about the convent, she says, "No stinky boys!" My brother has 2 beauties and he and I want them to become nuns & make the meanest three-on-three basketball team ever!
Failing holy orders, I plan to replace the lugustrom in front of her bedroom window with a barberry soon.

That sounds like a wonderful idea!
Don't let her take holy vows, think about the lovely grandchildren you will not have then.

Well, sort of like some of the subject matter of GardenStew, I am a "late bloomer". My daughter was born when I was 42 years old. I am now 47 and she is 2 months away from 5. The likelihood that I would not see grandchildren while I was on this earth is pretty high. She does, however, select certain toys to put away & says, she's saving them for her own children.
In reality, I just hope she grows up confident, self-assured and well-educated, so that she can make wise choices to enhance her happiness as an adult. I gotta set boundaries, enforce rules & discipline consistently, praise her accomplishments and encourage her in good pathways. And I hope she learns to love gardening. I got it from my mom, who got it from her mom & dad.

Awww... I'm moved. You've got your values straight, I think. Good luck!

I forgot to write, that one time, I was carrying my daughter after church (she was 2) & ran into the priet. I said, "We're going to put her in a convent." The priest laughed & said, "She won't stay."
