I have a friend who occasionally drops off "little surprises" for me. She left these old boots a while back. I was about to toss them when I got this idea. I filled the about 3/4 full of concrete and let it set up, added a block of florist foam and some "flowers". I want to get some dried desert flora to replace these but the general idea is there. Guess in December I will put some ponsettias in them.

I've seen succulents planted in old cowboy boots, this is much cuter!

I left enough room for a small coffee can too fit in the top if I wanted to plant something but was afraid the drainage would rot the leather pretty quickly. Thanks for the kind comments everyone.

Great use for them! My mom lives in 'cowboy country' in eastern Oregon and over there she says you see old boots stuck on the tops of fenceposts. Very Happy

Add a battery pack and you could have light up boots with poinsettias for the holidays.

I'm hoping to find an old pair (or just one) work boot and use it as a planter. Have it unlaced and opened up like you were fixing to put it onI

I probably might be able to help you our if you don't find one. My son has a pair sitting in his yard that I was thinking of doing just that. Try thrift stores or second hand stores. You can probably get them cheaper than postage would be.
