During dinner last evening, one of the 2 baby Eagles came to our boat house roof to watch for fish, or what ever baby Eagles watch for. I got one photo, and the flash frightened him away.

So glad the eaglet has survived with its sibling. Let's hope they both make it through the winter.

He was welcoming you home! Isn't it unusual for two to survive from the same nest?

Not if there's enough food around Mary and they are kept well supplied by the parents. However, in lean years, the smallest chick, sadly, can end up as a meal for its stronger sibling.

Wonderful, Calomaar! What kind of eagles are they? We also have some around the house, they are called King's eagles and are the second largest, most common species in Norway.

These are Bald Eagles, the ones with the white heads. It takes about 2 to 3 years for the young to get the white head. There are some birds here at our lake, that are larger, Cranes for example, but the fully grown Eagle could have as much as a 6 foot wing span. I have been outdoors on the deck, when an Eagle flew past, 8 or 10 feet away, and I could hear the power as the wings beat against the air. That is an amazing to experience.

I can imagine! How lucky you are to have such majestic birds near you.
