I'm trying to find a creative way to build some kind of a shelf (free-standing) that will elevate my indoor plants. Alternatively, I'm fine with buying something that gets the job done. It would be best if the shelf were in basket form. I want the basket to be elevated about 6 ft off the ground, and would prefer it to have an earthy look to it, but if I can just build something that looks really interesting, that will do. My dad suggested that I stack milk cartons. I have no idea what he was talking about. Any advice? My plan B right now is to buy one of those really ugly shelf racks at Lowes for ~$50.

If you are going to Lowe's check out those wicker type one's that they make for use in bathrooms. They would look nice and hold plants. I think there are several different varieties. I can't think who else might have those. dooley

Hang them from a hook in the ceiling--you can easily make a hanger out of jute rope.
