Here's some critters in our yard.
My favorite bug...dragonflies
Below are two little green frogs that hide behind the siding during the day and sing to us at night. So much for wanting to pressure wash the house. I love the expression of the one at the bottom of the photo.
Here's are couple more sleeping in the sun
Here's another sunbather. He's one of many baby lizards. They love the lemon tree and we love them.
Below is an assasin bug on duty. Thanks Eileen for id'ing him for me.
Birds at the pond
My nightly buddy watching the sunset with me again.
Mr. Fox
Hummingbird
One of several squirrels that are a constant source of entertainment for us. They definetly earn their peanuts.
Two of several cardinals....my favorite
Woodpecker. Not sure what kind. We have a redheaded woodpecker that comes by in the morning and in the evening for food. For some reason the photos are always blurry.
Below is the most dangerous animal in our yard. He's our "junk yard dog" Wolfgang

Daph I think your woodpecker could be a Gila Woodpecker (Melanerpes Uropygialis.) Possibly a female or a juvenile.
I love your little lizard and those dainty frogs. You certainly have a wonderful array of creatures visiting your garden. Your foxes are different from ours here in Scotland as yours have far more grey on them.

Cardinals are a favorite of mine, too. Critters sure seem to take a liking to you! All we get is Opossums, gophers, raccoons, 2 squirrels and a lonely hummingbird.

Now that I think of it, the woodpecker may be a female. She eats then takes some off into the trees. Maybe for babies. The redheaded one does the same. If the feeder is out of food, the woodpeckers makes a loud screeching noise. Once I put the food in, he flies to it and eats. I started making the honey seed, fruit, nut bricks of food and they appear to love it. I think the woodpeckers like the dried mangos and cherries.
The little frogs have a great survival technique when the dogs come around. They play dead. I found one in the house and thought for sure he was dead. I took him outside and held him next to the trellis just incase he was alive. After a minute or two he stepped off my hand onto the trellis.
I LOVE racoons and Opossums but I have not seen any around here. I really miss seeing them. I wish we had some around here.
My mother says that cardinals in your yard are very good luck.

Cardinals are lucky! We had a family of Opossums for a while and the stupid neighbors chased em' down the fence with a shovel. Haven't seen em' since, but luckily we talked them out of actually killing the poor dears. Had a raccoon for a while called Frederick (it just fit). Little tiny gal, and she'd taunt the cats but pressing her paws and nose to the glass door. I envy your birds so much, though!

Your dragon fly shot #2 is wonderful, and I adore your sweet frogs. How lucky you are to have such variety of wildlife around you.

Many thanks to SgtBaldy for bumping this thread!
Daph, your photos are just awesome, it's wonderful to see so many fantastic critters!
And they're all the same sorts of creatures I see pretty regularly around here,
(only natural - we aren't that far distant from one another)
but I never seem to capture the great shots,
you certainly have.
