Autumn is almost here and sweltering heat (for those who have it) will be replaced by cooler temperatures allowing for more time in your garden. Judging by some of the comments I have read recently many cannot wait for it to arrive 
So what's in store around your yard this September?

I'll continue to water and weed, prune and deadhead. The fair will be mid month and I want my plants to be winners!
I'll be collecting lots of seeds for the seed exchange too. I'll also be taking lots of notes for next years gardens!
Fall decorating happens soon so I'll be looking for some neat stuff for that too.

Water, weed and deadhead here too, also collecting some seeds and doing lots of trimming back of various things that are finished for the year. We're spreading some mulch and I've been spraying for fungal things that are cropping up lately, but otherwise just enjoying what color is left.
My fall crocuses just came up, and those, the asters and the crocosmia are still going strong.

Weeding, weeding, and weeding, raking leaves, mulching, general clean-up and seed collecting, digging gladioli bulbs to relocate in February, digging wayward perennials and putting in pots for a plant sale this spring.

Weeding and cutting back, moving some perennials and bulbs, raking and putting all our summer stuff away.
I'm wondering about digging a drainage ditch but hoping it won't be necessary.

If the weather continues to cool down, I might be able to get some much needed weeding done later this month and finally get paths done. Randy is talking about getting our version of a French Drain made from a low spot by the back of the house out to the garden area behind a small picket fence before we have a chance of more heavy rains.
And since our front yard is in morning shade until around 11 a.m. I can now get started on some new gardening plans out there.

I will be starting as many perennial seeds and cuttings as I still can. We won't get our first frost till mid november, so I still have some time to get next spring's blooms going. I still have all the pruning and deadheading and seed collecting to do as well. I love being busy in the garden though.......

Tomatoes coming at us strong, aprox. 1/2 bushel per day..about tired of canning 
peppers still producing heavily...
Celery, half is harvested, made stock, dehydrated most.
Squash, pumpkins turning beautiful golds and reds...
Have the potatoes in storage....
So We will continue to weed,water and pray for a late frost (not unheard of to have frost mid- september here in Mn.)...still have alot to do, then there is putting it all to bed for the winter.....
anyone care to experience a fall in Minnesota?
P.s. bring garden tools

I just plan on trying to keep the weeds and grass down.Its so wet here

Sept. will be my busiest month for starting cuttings
to winter over for inclusion in next year's garden beds and container plantings.
I find things are easy to root at this point in the season,
and they should be strong and healthy by the time they go into dormancy,
or into the glasshouse if they are tender tropicals.

I've been busy canning, freezing, and drying too. I'm a week behind on getting my cool season seeds in, need to get them in either today or tomorrow. Supposable the Farmers almanac says we will be getting a mild winter here this year so maybe with a few straw cold frames and some extra mulching I can extend mine a little longer. I noticed no one mentions fall planting, does anyone here Do fall planting?

I just finished canning tomatoes, still need to do sweet pickles and more dill pickles-first time canning, it was really fun. What kind of vege's need to be put in for the cold season? maybe broccoi? need some info on that please.

My September gardening plans have changed as of this morning. Between 6 am and 11 am we received almost 6.5 inches (just over 17 cm) It is still raining but not as heavy and we could get up to an inch more before the storms move away to the east and north.
The soil will be workable now and cooler weather moving in early tomorrow too. All of which means I can actually perform some gardening tasks this month but first I need to go shopping for a pair of 'wellies' so I can slog around out in the soggy yard.
