Can you help me identify my plant? The leaves are large and waxy. The underleaf is dark red, and the top is dark green with white stripes. I have had the plant for 3 yrs and the waxy cuticle has significantly reduced creating thinner, lighter colored leaves.

The longest stalk (leaf to soil) is 3 ft. At night the leaves draw upward like a flower closing and spread open during the day.

Thank You!

Hi Heather,
I'd say that your pretty plant is a Calathea, possibly C. ornata.

- maybe you'll see one that more closely resembles yours.

I have a similar plant to yours Heather. It's a Calathea/Stromanthe 'Burele Marx.' They are lovely plants aren't they? Very Happy
