I think it is probably Cotton root rot.How do I get rid of it other than digging them up and burning them or is it some other illness?

This one has grown hugh and now its wilting .It has lots of buds but it looks very sick.

I do hope someone can help me and tell me what to do.

I wonder if the very excessive amount of rain that you had this summer
might be at the root of the problem . . . Shocked literally?!

Perhaps the root systems were damaged due to the overly damp soil,
or maybe the plant just didn't develop a big enough root system
when so much water was so easily accessible for all those weeks/months.
Maybe now the plants are just too big for their root systems?

That's a lot of "maybe"s, huh??
I don't really know , I guess I might be grasping at straws,
I sure wouldn't like to believe that such big, glorious plants have
any kind of serious disease.

If they were mine, I'd probably not dig them out.
I might prune away part of the plants (AAARGH! - hate to loose any blooms)
to lighten the demand on the root stock.
Then I'd watch carefully for signs of problems when they begin to grow next season.

Best luck Glenda - they're too lovely to loose!!

I agree with ZZP, too much rain. When the roots don't have to work to get water they do not develop a strong enough root system to keep up with the top growth.
