I've made these today:
You measure up the wire, add the loop to the length, thread the loop and close it with a wire clamp, thread the beads, pearls or whatever on the wire, finish off with something a bit heavy and/or bulky, put a wire clamp on the end, cut surplus wire, and voilĂ .
I've used tiny beige and brown glass beads and fresh water pearls, but that's because I already had them in my stash. I'm going to try Swarowski beads and glass hearts tomorrow.
Are these good to give away, do you think?

Well, YES they are good enough to give away....I'll take the one with the dark bead on the end.
All kidding aside, those are really pretty and using the wire is a good idea, being stiff you wouldn't have to worry about the necklace tightening up and frequently having to rearrange it. With a turtleneck or cowlneck shirt they would look really good.

Very lovely, indeed
I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't be thrilled to receive one, Droopy.

Actually, I would only give these to people I really, really liked. Consider selling some. People love jewelery and right about Decemeber 1 is a good time to tap into the Christmas market. Tap, tap.

I agree with Bethie about selling them. Costume jewelry is all the rage at the moment ans I'm sure yours would be snapped up quickly as they are really pretty. Never say that they are home made though always say they are HAND made - believe me it makes a big difference.

*taking notes* Thank you for nice comments and good tips. There are plenty of hobby fairs before Christmas, but the people exhibiting are so professional, I'm scared just thinking about participating.
If I do, I'll make sure the signs sais "Hand Made".
And I probably need to make a lot more, and in several different colours too.
I have a rather big family, and thought these might make presents for the women, or for my best friends.
Pictures please Barb.

Yes, your family will be delighted by these. Maybe over winter you could make a bunch for a spring sale. Do NOT be afraid to put yourself out there. We usually make up about 100 necklaces and 200 pairs of coordinating earrings. The earrings are easy to make and a lot of ladies buy two or three pairs. Almost everyone who buys a necklace also buys earrings.

Earrings, of course! I'll make a shopping list. Glendann, I've got plans for blue and green too. Freshwater pearls come in all colours now.
I enjoy making them, it's not too demanding. Thank you.

Bethie, what style of earrings do you make? Have you shown some pictures, or can you? And also the necklaces. I guess everyone on the Stew knows but me... what type of business do you have? You make such beautiful, original and interesting items. I'm so jealous of your amazing talent
