I decided I didn't want the plant I had on the top so I removed it and bought a mini lilac mum for it.
I hope you all like it better as I think it changed it for the better.

Before I changed it

After The change

I also bought a hanging basket with Blue Berry Muffin Mix Petunias.

Now that's definately an improvement Glenda!! I really like the hanging basket you bought too - where are you going to be putting it in the garden? My petunias are still going strong even after a frost the other night.

Do take a piccie of it for us when it's in place Glenda. Petunias are such cheerful little flowers to have in a garden aren't they?

Yes your change was a good one. Mums are really pretty. I think I have a brown thumb when it comes to mums. Your hanging basket is gorgeous. Do you have a special place picked for it, in your garden?

It will probably stay on the hanging basket holder as I don't have many places to keep it.

That mum really made a difference. I like the petunias with small flowers. They keep better during bad weather.

Would you like to know how I learned to care for mums? Question I learned from reading a short story back in my college American Literature class. It is "Chrysanthamums," by John Steinbeck. It is a wonderful short story, and has some good tips for caring for mums in it. It was written in 1938, and takes place in the Salinas Valley in California. I also think we gardners can also relate to the woman in the story as it goes along. Stew Face 1 Copy Stew Face 2 Paste Stew Face 1 Read Stew Face 2 Enjoy Stew Face 1
www.nbu.bg/webs/amb/american/4/steinbeck/chrysanthemums.htm

PS Let me know how you liked it.

Once the sun comes up good and bright . . . I will try to get some pictures . . . My mums are just beginning to adjust to their planter . . . I love pinching them back, once they are spent. I learned confidence in handling plants from Elisa Allen. Wink

PS . . . It is actually 7:55 AM here in NC.

I like the change in your planter Glenda. It looks so cheery!

Dearest Glenda:
Your choices are to be commended! I also love the planters . . . They remind me of the leprechaun's pot of gold!!!! (I like your gold better.) The petunias are gorgeous too. Our petunias here a almost spent for the season . . . It is time for mums and pansies.

Very pretty. The before looked nice, but the after just looks so much more vibrant and alive. The petunias are also very lovely!

Those are beautiful pots and the mums look great in them.

One cannot go wrong with mums. You did great by changing the flowers in that top planter.

And those petunias reminds me of blueberry cheesecake. lovely color on them.
