Is any one familiar with when to dig your onion bulbs out of the the garden......

I alwsys dug mine when the tops turned brown.. However this year we did it in the fall, and the onion is a much sweeter taste????????????

How do you folks do it ?

Here in Michigan we're into our cold fall, so I already dug up our onions along with everything else in my garden.

If your plants have toppled on their own, the end is near. May be another 10 days or so when the tops begin to die. What will happen is that the neck of the bulb will seal off. At that point, the tops may still be green but no longer receiving any water from the root system. Then they are ready to harvest.
