I have been trying to drink more water for a long time now. I used to drink a ton of soda and have managed to cut it out of my regular diet so it is not just an occasional treat. I was then drinking Vitamin Water when plain water was feeling boring...till I realized hoe much sugar it has! So I've now been experimenting with things like cucumber or lemon in my water. Does anyone else have any other tricks for making water a bit more appealing when it is your main drink?

I tried lemon and lime juices for a while. I disliked plain water too, but now I just make sure it is nice icy cold. I have, maybe, Dr. Pepper or treat myself to sweet tea once a month so I don't feel so deprived.

Other than slices of fruit or the unsweetened juice I have not found another flavoring for tea that doesn't contain sugar....and you certainly don't want to start drinking anything with Nutrasweet, that stuff can do all sorts of bad things to the body.

I drink the water as it is, but it has to be nice and cold. Lemon or lime slices, mint leaves and flowers or leaves from Borago gives nice flavour.

In summer I try and make ice cubes with Borago flowers in them. It looks festive.

As for sweetener, has anybody tried Stevia? We had a couple of plants and used it for teas mainly, but were experimenting with other uses when the plants died on us.

More information is found on www.stevia.net.

I drink plain water all week so on the weekend I drink sparkling water with a tablespoon of pomegranite juice in it. Also a queeze of fresh lemon or lime. I call it "happy water." Cool

Have a good old reliable Irish fry-up in the morning.
Sausages, rashers, B &W pudding, tomatoes etc.
Believe me you will be drinking water for the rest of the day.

However this solution is not without its flaws, as you may have to then deal with excessive salt and cholesterol levels. Wink

Lemon, orange or mint are our favorites, and stevia or 'splenda' might be options for a touch of sweetness if you're wanting it... I use stevia in teas (the kind with a dropper) and it works fine.

How about herbal tea infusions? They don't dehydrate and there's a lot of variety, good cold or hot.

Deanna, that's not dorky at all. Everything tastes better in a pretty glass. Cool

You can always add a splash of good Kentucky Bourbon.

Couldn't agree more Laughing , though the water will have to be in a solid state and not a liquid state.
