I had a phone call today. The chap at the other end informed me that they're planning our college class' 25th reunion. 25th!?! Where did time go? And what on earth happened in 1983? What music did we listen to, what did we discuss, and where, oh, where are all the other people from our class?

I found that David Bowie was a real looker in '83:

Anybody know what happened to Boy George?

Ah, Eurythmics!

I have a feeling I'll be hanging on YouTube a lot.

Sounds like a blast Droopy!

Hmmm, I Dunno what Dave Stewart or Boy George are up to these days,
but I recently saw an interview with Annie Lennox
who was looking and sounding as wonderful as ever!

It might be a blast. I hope I'll be able to recognize a few of the middle-aged people there.

My, you're just a baby, Frank...

I think I'm going. After all, I've got the good fortune of being able to bring both my husband and our best friend. If it turns out to be awful I'll just go home.

I should have seen this coming. After all, I've had my driver's license for 25 years this year.

Have fun Droopy, if you decide to go.
I passed on my 40th back in 2004...there are pictures of the ones who attended the 25th, 30th and 40th... http://64bearcats.com/
I only recognize two of those old people in the 40th reunion picture, first row 4th from the left is Annie and first row 6th from the right is Marsha. I am certainly too young to be part of that group Stew Face 1

About the time Droopy was graduating and Frank the kid was starting school, I was retiring from the Navy after 22 years of service. Droopy, go to the reunion! I missed the 5th, 10th and 15th because of not being in the states to go. But I have been to all of the rest since. This past summer, I went to the 45th. Go and visit with your classmates even if you don't recognise them. One day you will find out that some of them are no longer around!

Toni, you graduated the year I was born. And Capt Kirk retired when I graduated... I bet there are Stewbies who were born after I graduated too. The age gaps are big here, but I never feel it. That's a good thing.

Now, what happened in 1983 - anybody remember? There was ET and the first CDs, but what else?

David Bowie now looks like he had one too many face lifts, boy george has far outdone himself in the strange-makeup department, annie lennox is, as mentioned, still amazingly talented. The Stray Cats morphed into the Brian Setzer Orchestra, Wang Chung is now a slang terme, and Toni Basil (Mickey) is a dance instructor. I'm still waiting for a full comeback of new-wave music (you know, the music that was just bouncy to listen to and didn't have to have some deeper meaning) But I'll take a pass on the slam dancing- DS was telling me a few years ago about a "mosh pit" at a concert he went to, and he was very surprised when I told him that I used to do that and call it slam dancing. Guys are wearing black eyeliner again and it still looks pretty good, I'm very happy to say that sofa-cushion sized shoulder pads seem to be staying gone. And when I'm feeling down I still like to crank up Ultravox's "reap the wild wind", don't care about the lyrics, I just love the music. Mary, class of '84 and currently feeling my age!

I was class of 86. I think we were listening to Bowie, Loverboy, Duran Duran, U2, Van Halen and I think that's just about the time Bon Jovi came out with "Runaway". I never did much care for Boy George. Hmmm, I wonder if my class will have a reunion in 2011?

ummm I am the only one here I guess that didn't graduate.I quit in the 11th grade and I still don't regret
it.I hated school. (sorry)I never liked any place that I had to sit still and be quiet that long and I had to be outside as much as possible.I would have graduated in 1962.My brothers grad. class was 1957.
I never told my kids this until they were grown.

Lots of my fellow class mates left school before graduating glendann. They either found jobs or different schools to attend.

I loved school so I went on studying, but could never decide what I wanted to be when I grew up. Hence I've got a little of a lot, which has earned me the title of "Potato" at work. I'll go with anything. Smile

I enjoyed school too Droopy, but I think it was mainly the social life! I'm STILL trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up Laughing

Yes, it sounds like you will have fun at your reunion. I also just heard Annie Lennox sing and she sounded great. I don't care how many face lifts Bowie has, he's still the best thing in black eyeliner to me. Cool Like Glendann, I hated every minute of boring school. I wouldn't have went at all if it wasn't for BOYS. Wink I don't even know what year I graduated in as I didn't even go to it as it wasn't required. I had them mail the diploma to me. I hope YOU have a great time.
