Lady beetles - how do you tell the good one or the bad one?

    During fall cleanup, I found a lot of lady beetles and captured some of them and released indoor. I read that there are two bad species- mexican bean beetle and squash beetles - eating plants instead of aphids. But they have a very similar look to these good lady beatles. Below is the photo of some of the lady beetles I released inddor. Did I invite wolf into the house?

    I find it very difficult to know which type of lady beetle I'm seeing. There are just soooooo many different variations in harlequins colours and number of spots. I've yet to find a fool-proof way of being which type is which.
