Well every 1-2 weeks, we have to replace the cut flowers in the house. The last bouquet wilted a couple of days ago so these Chrysanthemums have taken their place. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
We have been told that it isn't common in all countries to have cut flowers in the home, but here I dare say every home has fresh flowers in them regularly. They aren't expensive here--these were 2 euros.
There are two types of flower bunches that one can get here: decorative bunches with special imported bits and sometimes little figures and accessories and the simple handful of cut flowers with no frills. The fancy ones are indeed quite pricey.
I reluctantly cut some of my little babies from the flower garden for the home, but it is done with a great amount of pain.

It's really lovely at this time of year to see cut flowers in a home - especially the warm colours of yours. I'm a bit like you Sjoerd and don't like to cut the flowers in my garden unless I have to. At the prices you can pick up bunches from the shops these days it means our gardens can stay beautiful as well as our homes.

Those are very pretty Sjoerd. I don't like cutting too many from my gardens either, but I always make sure to bring in some Lilac's when they are blooming. Their heavenly smell fills the house. I think I'm going to put a row of cutting flowers out in the veggie garden this year.

Those are gorgeous. I wonder if I could find that chrysanthemum for the garden, I love the color.
I love to have fresh cut flowers in the house but they are more expensive here. A small bunch of about 6 stems runs about $7, which I think converts to 4 Euros?, a larger bunch with some greenery is around $12 depending on the flower. At which, either my thrifty Scots blood or my ingrown cheapness puts a halt to the thought of buying them.
My garden flowers only make it in the house when a stem breaks, like when the Glads are wind blown.

Lovely cut flowers! We have them occasionally when one of us remember to buy them. We remember quite often during winter, and not at all in summer. I cut flowers from my garden. Day lilies, lilies, narcissi, lilacs, tulips and roses. Why? Because it rains so much sometimes, it's the only way I get to enjoy them.

Sjoerd....those are very pretty. I rarely bring flowers in from my garden. I like to walk in my gardens daily to enjoy them...and to leave them grow for others to enjoy. I have not seen beauties like those around here for sale...

I just discarded my cut flowers and need to get some more. These last ones lasted nearly three weeks. I bought them just before Christmas. Almost Christmas Eve I think. They were red carnations and white daisy like flowers and little red and white lilies. They are usually quite reasonable in the grocery store here. dooley

You ought to take a foto and post it. I'll bet they are beautiful. Red and white in a bouquet is my favourite. Our favourite flowers in a bouquet are red carnations and white daisys.

Sjoerd, Your bouquet of flowers is very beautiful, but would cost a pretty penny where I live. (I am also admiring that lovely piece of painted furniture in the background . . . your place looks warm and inviting.)
I try to brighten up my home for those who live here by hunting what I can to bring in until spring:
"Hemlock, a bit of ribbon, and a bird."
"Sprigs of hemlock, cedar, and nandina."
I do bring in flowers as quick as they bloom. I can tell that it helps make my family feel that they are special.

Thank you, Sjoerd. My fiancee says I have champagne taste on a beer budget.
I believe your mums are the most lovely ones that I have ever seen.
I also explored your link today, and took the liberty of bookmarking it. I especially loved the pictures of the baby birds.
