When selecting a smiley from page 1,2, etc., I can't seem to return to 'view more smilies' for a second time. What is the magic trick?

You'll find that you smilies have been minimised on tothe bottom your computer screen Kuntrygal so if you right click on it then you shouldn't have any more problems.

Eils has it KG. Sometimes if you don't close the smilie window and go to click the 'view more smilies' link again it will just reload the minimised window, not pop it up on the screen. The best thing to do is to close the smilie window whenever you think you are finished with it. Hope this makes sense.

I still can not select 'View More Smilies' more than once. Eileen said the smilies are minimized at the bottom of the page, but not for me! Any other suggestions ??

when you click on View more Smiles there will be the basic set of smilies and both above and below those there will be
Basic Smilies 1 Smilies 2 Smiles 3 Smilies 4
Is that not there for you?

When I am composing my post and select 'View More Smilies' and I select Smilies 3 and make my selection. It is inserted where I want it and I continue with my post. If I decide that I want to peruse the smilies again and click on 'View More Smilies' that's when it doesn't open up the smilies 1,2,3,etc. Can't figure out what I am doing wrong or what is missing

If you didn't minimize the smilies before continueing with the post it is probably behind what you are working on. It won't reopen something that is already open.
Next time it happens, minimize gardenstew and you will probably find the smilies hiding behind.
When you click on the smilie you want, then you will need to minimize them yourself before continuing on your post.

Yep, just what Toni said, or
after the first time you click on "View more Smilies",
and the window disappears after you select the one you want,
look down at the tabs along the bottom of your screen
. . . do you see a tab that says
Garden Stew :: Smili...
That is what the tab for the smilies looks like on my laptop.
If I click on that tab, the smiley window opens back up
right where I left it - page 1, or 2, etc... ready to select again.

Don't be so hard on yourself KG. I had the same questions when I first got involved with the computer but the difference is I live with two Technology Geeks and could ask them.

My online friends have helped me so much, KG!
I am still a pretty clueless 'puter user, learning by asking my own questions,
but also learning from the questions that others ask.
I agree with the old saying:
"The only dumb question is the one you DON'T ask".
