Hello everyone! I mentioned that I got some new children for Christmas so here they are! First I got these Bromeliads-Dasher and Dancer!
I also got a cyclamen (Jane Eyre) that I did not get a chance to take a picture of yet. But, she looks like she is already leaving me.  My plant books says that she needs to be in temperatures between 50-60 F....my home is around 70. Any suggestions? My grandmother gave me this plant so I really want to hang on to her!
Now on to the tough part. I got these cuttings from a friend and I really have no idea what to do with them. My mother-in-law helped me to put them in this large container with rocks on the bottom and regular potting soil. She said that if we put the cuttings (since they do not have roots) in the soil that they will grow. She also put this plastic bag around it to hold in moisture. I really want these plants to root so I just need your advice and opinions! Here is the picture...
Some of them I need help identifying. I know I have a Jade, Spider, Shamrock (that looks dead) but the other two I have no idea.

I also have a few of them along with a few clippings of a christmas cactus rooting in water. Should the Jade be in the soil or rooting in the water?
Am I going about rooting these plants in the right way?
I also have this cutting (that had a root) from a friend. I think that this will be okay for her. (Scarlet)

Jade plant I've never had luck rooting in water. I stick them right in dirt and they root there fine. The ones you arent sure of, the one with the red back to the leaf looks like a begonia to me.
This piece jade fell off the momma plant. I let it sit on he soil and just watered normally and it sent out roots
These babies in front were single leaves i just stuck in the soil

Heather,
It looks like you're doing ok rooting those cuttings. I have bever tried rooting jade plants in water, but they seem to root every other kind of way. You can even just snap a leaf off and shove it in the ground and it'll form roots. I have had such good luck with those that I have had to give them all away except one.
I thought that I saw a philodendron in there. Is that possible?

 Ooooo, ya got some lovely goodies there!!
(  I, also, root Jade in soil rather than water)
The plants in the upper right and lower left corners are cane-type Begonias -
I'd say Dragon Wing (upper right) and Angel Wing (lower left).

rooting those plants.
You must keep the soil moist to root anything.. Some of the pots looked dry to me......
Dont let the shamrock fool you.. It dies down and just when you think it is dead in comes back beautiful.

I have been out of town for a few days so I am excited to see how they are doing when I get home. I will go ahead and put that other piece of jade into the soil.
