Hello, you guys were very helpful the last time I posted. I've got another issue with a Gardenia plant of mine, maybe you can help?

I bought my houseplant Gardenia a few years back. Since then, it has grown a lot in a 1 gallon pot (maybe a little more) as I have replanted it.

Recently, it hasn't been doing well at all. I have lost many leaves, particularly towards to bottom of the plant. Many new leaves have appeared, but to my dismay they quickly lose color, shrivel up, and fall off. Also, many full grown leaves are turning yellow, and develop large spots, even at the top of the plant.

In the past I have treated the plant with a soap/oil spray to destroy spider mites. In fact this past fall I had a problem with them. However, right now I haven't seen any. I have fertilized the plant in the summer, but I have slowed since winter is now here.

Any thoughts?

Thank you so much!

Do you have the heat on where you live? Gardenias hate the indoor heat --- too dry for them.

Give it more humidity and a draft or two and it'll likely rebound just fine.

OK, good idea. As a matter of fact, it is directly under a heating vent. I do have it in the basement, because its colder. This past Saturday I put a tray of water underneath it for humidity. Any other ideas?
