Coleus as Houseplants

Has anyone ever tried to grow coleus from seed in the soil of a large houseplant (ie Yucca Tree?). Am itching for growing season here in lonely zone 5, and wanted to plant something.

Can't say I have YF but I have grown them from seeds in pots of their own.  Pretty easy to germinate as far as I remember.
Will keep my fingers crossed that yours are a success.

I haven't either, however, I have a packet of seed and as I was planning to treat them as houseplants, I may well try that idea out! I am hoping to repot my Strelitzia tomorrow, so a few seeds around the base would look stunning come summer!

I know this is a little late, but thought I'd put my two cents worth in anyway. I have several friends that grow them in the house and some were started by seed. I'm trying it now. The package says to start indoors in a warm, well-lighted area, sow seeds shallowly, keep moist, seedlings will emerge in 12-21 days at 65-85 degrees. I have seen several pictures and they make beautiful houseplants.
One thing to keep in mind, some have now been bred for sunshine. You might want to read the packages to make sure they are the part-shade or shade type.
