Ok ......I wish to know if and how do you other country's celebrate Mom and dad's day..I live in the USA......My son buys us a greeting card , and a small gift for rememberance.. He is a swell son.
My gift is usually a hanging basket of flowers. That Begonia I showed is 2 years ago and bloomed this past year just fine.
2007 he purchased a lovely Gerber Daisy.. Large blossoms red on top and beige on back .....It is still in my hall way and just finished blooming.. I kept it also........I am so spoiled.

We've got Father's day in mid-November and Mother's day in February. We get cards, flowers and sometimes a small present too. We use the days as excuses for making a better-than-usual meal and have extra snacks.

We celebrate Mothers day and Fathers day here too and we receive small gifts and cards from our children. Sometimes, if money allows, we get taken out for a meal.

Our moms day is May 11 in 2008
fathers day is june 15......
Now I am wondering how they go about figuring what day to use? Like Droopys in February..

We have Mothers day in May and Fathers Day in June here too. When Fathers day falls on the 15th - which it does this year - Father has to share his day with me (my birthday!)

Because my children are American i recieve a box from both around the times of the american holidays. plus they send e-cards. Then i recieve grandmother e-cards in sept from my 2 grandaughters.
My husband sends gifts an cards to his parents who live in the south of Norway, on the Norwegian holiday days. We don't have special meals because they aren't here with us, or us with them.

Did you ever see Lilac bushes out there? Today I order 2 pink lilac rebloomers and smelly.

I was watching them for a year and jumped at the chance .......I love lilacs. They were $14.00 last year...

They are quite popular here. We call them "Syring". There are always so many colours and fragrances to choose from. Your choice sounds good to me. Do you have their place chosen already?

Good we never had rebloomers .......I have white and purple .. Now purple rotted away.. Really old from the last person who owned the farm.
Yes we are on a small farm and my yard is plentiful.
What other colors are there?

My family is of Eastern European descent. We never really celebrated Mother's Day, but we did celebrate a day of Women Workers. It sounds a bit silly, but we make a much bigger deal about it and much more appreciation and gifts are given to working mothers on that day compared to Mother's Day.

I had read that the American 15 minute break that is mandatory in work enviroments came about by a group of Norwegian immigrant and American/Norwegian women from Wisconsin who worked for a company, an demanded their "coffee break". The work production increased, an the boss made it part of their daily work schedule to have these coffee breaks. Other companies picked up on the idea, an now its part of the work ethics of the U.S. So we can all thank a group of women workers for that little break in the work day.
