No sound on my computer

    A few days ago i was listening to music on my computer then all of a sudden without any warning the sound just cut out. I decided to re-install xp, i installed the drivers for the audio with no problem but still there is no sound can anyone help?

    PC specs
    XP SP2 build 2600
    Graphics card - NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT SLI 512MB DDR 3 PCI EXPRESS
    Motherboard - ASROCK 4CORE DUAL SATA 2 MOTHERBOARD
    Realtek HD audio

    No sound coming from computer.

    Fastgrey you bring up a good point there. Have you tried plugging in another set of speakers? If you have a pair of headphones and a headphone socket somewhere on your computer you could try that also.

    ok, that was sum weird stuff i took the audio lead out and put headphones in and only the left side worked, so i pulled it out a bit then it started playing through both sides, then i put the speakers back in and like magic audio came out. Thats strange tho as i've tried taking the audio lead out and putting it back in

    I wouldn't of needed new speakers as im using a tv with pc input and the speakers work as i watch tv and play xbox on it lol

    Thanks for all your help as if you hadnt mentioned about headphones i wouldn't of tried it lol, cheers

    lol ok i just restarted my comp, and guess what no sound, theres sound when i put my headphones in tho, im not to bothered tho i never really play anything through the speakers on the comp i normally use headphones, as long as ive got audio im happy
