I went to the barn with Mimi today, and mostly got in the way. I took some pictures, and will include a few here. Nothing news worthy to report, there all doing fine, and wintering well. Mimi didn't ride, but was mostly concerned about a cut on Gwenn's face, next to her eye. All's well there. The 2 young ones are doing well, as is their mom. Gwenn got a new winter blanket, we got a picture so we could remember how it looked before she rolls a few times to break it in. That won't take long. We turned her loose in the indoor ring, and encouraged her to run about and enjoy some time outside her stall, which she did.

Gwenn is looking great Tom and I love the new blanket. However, by next week it'll look as though she's had it for ages I'm sure. We had a horse at the stables where I used to ride and every time his horse blanket was cleaned he seemed to take enormous pleasure it making it as mucky as possible in the least amount of time.  Love the frost patterns on the glass panels but wouldn't want to be outside in those temperatures.

Gwenn sure looks good in her new coat.. very nice. beautiful horse.
geez tell me about ice n frost,,lol.. but isn't it always beautiful from the inside looking out...lol.
(beautiful on the outside too, if you look real fast)

Good looking horse there. Looks like she likes her new coat.
Wow would you look at the glass, gorgeous. At first I thought it might be stained glass. Isn't frost just so pretty on glass.

Looks like a great indoor area for them. I woke up this morning to frosty panes on my 3-season porch. Mother Nature does some beautiful things!

I love looking at the patterns frost makes on windows. I miss that one thing about Wisconsin. It is so dry here that we very seldom get frost and almost never on the windows. Thanks for the beautiful picture of it. dooley

Gwen is very beautiful and her new blanket looks lovely on her. I hope her cut doesn't give her any trouble! I love to watch horses run and prance after they have been turned out of their stall. They are such wonderful animals! 
The frost is beautiful, but fortunately we don't see frost like that here!

She's a lovely horse Calomaar, and the blanket suits her. It's funny to see how energetic horses get during the cold spells. All jumps and no thought for proper work. My horse managed to get the blanket off, put it in the middle of his box and peed on it. So there!
I love the frosty feather-like pattern on your door. Our panes are so well insulated we only get that on the cars.

The cuts origin is a mystery , we checked the stall, and found nothing. Checked her hoofs, and found a nail that could have been a problem, but that's just a guess, she has been out with other horses, and pecking order needs to be established, and she may have had an encounter with another horse. Again all guesses.
She is a Thoroughbred.
The Barn is divided into 2 parts, one side is unheated and kept closed, the other is well insulated and there is a boiler, and in floor coils. However most of the time just the presents of the horses keeps it well above the other half, and the boiler seldom operates. The heated part is reserved for older horses, and horses in poor health.
