By "shrubs", do you mean buxus, for instance?..
Well, I cannot say that I have ever used it for that sort of shrub. I can't imagine it being bad for them though.
I use it primarily for veg.
I use horse manure "tea" for flowering plants --and for sone veg sorts.

Yes. I have used it on my rose bushes in the past. I use a variety of things on them, and rarely do the same thing every year.
The borrage is used primarily for "green fertilizer" in our gardens presently.

I have just finished reading a book called, Great Garden Companions by Sally Jean Cunningham. It is a Rodale book. She talks about "garden neighborhoods". I think I'll try it. The worst that will happen is that my garden won't grow any better than last year.
