I bought some small plants at WalMart yesterday. Will keep them in the house until I repot them and move them to the deck. I got a Hoya, Purple Passion (fuzzy purple plant), A white and a Green Butterfly, Croton and Hens and Chicks. Now if spring would just hurry up Wink

Barb, it has thick waxy leaves and some of the leaves are varigated, some just green. Needs indirect light and light on the water. The Hoya Carnosa Variegata is a slow grower. I have had this plant in the past and liked it very well. This plant just looked very healthy and 'called my name' Wink

It has been so long since I had the Hoya, that I don't remember if it bloomed or not. I liked it, because I thought it was kinda' unusual with the thick leaves. I do like the curly ones, but this one isn't curly Rolling Eyes It is just a small starter plant, so I hope it will do good once transplanted to a larger pot.

Stew Face 1 Stew Face 1

My sister in law has a hoya for years, Varigated and blooms....
Her advice at christmas........It loves to be rootbound.....DO not be in a hurry to transplant that.
And she says it only blooms on the part that is a runner ......Never cut that part off. I have mine only 2 years..........It is growing but not blooming.
I never seen one in bloom..
Yes I love the foilage.....Like no other.

Thanks for the info that the Hoya likes to be root bound. I will transplant into a pot that is only a little bit larger, then work from there. Wink

Your quite welcome......
I forgotten to add she had it for maybe 20 years.. She knows for sure.

I was suprised, I never noticed flowers at her home.. But guess we are there mostly in the summer. There lots outside.

Now just found out, one plant I bought in the fall at walmart........is a DUMB CANE..
Do you have the one?

Not right now...have had several in the past and plan on getting one when I see a healthy one. If I am not mistaken, they are toxic to some degree.
Dumb cane ... Diffenbacia (not sure of the spelling) Wink

Thanks

I read that once it blooms it dies, and you have to start new shoots to make new ones?

I purchased 3 greenery plants last fall, just to amuse me this winter......
Right now one of my christmas cactus is going into bloom.Isnt that odd?

Congratulations on your new plants, kuntrygal. We like the Hoya too. The last ones died from spide mite attack I think. We got two new ones now. One variegated and one green. We just bought them, and hope they will flower for us.
