Remember the unpainted planter I showed in Dec? I finally figured out what to paint on it and got it done. I think I am going to plant it with red petunias this spring and take another picture of it then.

That is sooo pretty! Well done. You've got me wanting those flowers in my garden now... But where, I wonder. I'm visualizing red petunias - it's going to look great.

Toni I hope you don't mind but I found the original photo of the planter you posted (topic here) and I thought it would be good to post so that your excellent transformation can be be made more prominent:

I love it! Did you stencil or free-hand paint? Ohhh, if only I had a little of that talent!

Hollyhocks are one of my favorite flowers, and you did a great job painting them. I have no artistic talents, and wish I did. I've got some hollyhocks growing alongside my outhouse...I guess that in the olden days, hollyhocks were planted there so that "proper" women didn't have to ask where the privy was!

Thanks y'all, I love folk art style of painting because it is more expressive.

Frank, thanks for posting the before picture.

Deanna, I considered doing a tracing from a flower themed coloring book but decided I liked the freehand look better.

Kasey, you are exactly right about hollyhocks. They have been called the outhouse flowers because of that. Women knew that the outhouse was behind the patch of hollyhocks and didn't have to embarrass themselves by asking.
