was wondering if there are any other folks here that hunt for Morels or any other wild mushrooms.
My wife and I hunt almost year round, from the first Morel to the "mouse" which is the end of the season. Around Oct. - Nov. usually.

Well here's a pic to get you thinking about the first shroom of the season.

No mushroom hunting around here, we do get 'toad stools' when the weather is really humid but those you don't want to eat.

So that is a Morel, we saw some at the Oriental market the other day but they were not labeled and I had no idea what kind they were. Thanks for the picture.

Happy hunting.

You're making my mouth water! We had some that sprouted up from a load of shredded bark mulch that we had delivered. What a wonderful surprise that was. They never came back the next year, though, so I'll have to keep hunting. A few around us know the secret spots where they grow, and their lips are sealed!!! Lucky you if you know of a spot where they're growing near you!

Those in the shredded bark were most likely Landscape Morels. They are the one season bang there.
We have a few "honey holes" we hunt.
Had the Travel Channel here filming for the show "Cash and Treasures" last spring. They got to see our more sparsely shroomed areas. lol

I go mushrooming when the urge takes me, but there's nothing much going on until July here. I bring the girls with me, they like too crawl about to look for cantarels.

I found this site on morels. I know they tend to grow around Elm trees, so when I go out hunting for them, I'm always looking around those trees. http://thegreatmorel.com/

I'm a chicen when it comes to hunting 'shrooms, though...the poisonous and nonpoisonus ones look so similiar. I do know what puff balls look like, though, and will always harvest those.

We collect chantrell's here as well. but the weather sure has to be right. Well I guess that's with any shroom.
If you know an experienced forager thee sure are a lot of them out there that are good. We love puffballs. Found 4 giants last year in a sheep pasture.
The great Morel is a good site. There are about 10000000 morel boards out there. I belong to michiganmorels.com
there's a great bunch of people I've meet and hunted with on that board. A good family friendly board thats for sure and the people are all great, love to share info, but not hunting spots.

Yeah I've shipped em fresh and they did well.
But I'll probably dry these first. Then it wouldn't cost a fortune to ship.
And you and I both hope we hit big this year, I'm all out of my stash of dried ones.

No hunting here.

Our weather is a bit too dry.
On the odd occasion that fungi do sprout up, then they happen to be toad stools. Sad
