Wanted to share How to Force bloom ..
I cut these Forsythia bush branches off about 7 days ago, and you see the results.. Blooming.
All you do I do is cut branches off and put them in plain ole water indoors and here are the results.
Anyone else do this with shrubs or bushes ?

I've always wanted to try that! How big were the buds on the bushes when you cut them?? Right now mine are under about 3 or 4 feet of snow Crying or Very sad

We do that too, especially with birch twigs, but also forsythias and daphne. It's like a little peek of spring, even though spring's still far away. I'm generally successful with birch from late January onwards.

I think the buds were just humps.. Mine is snow all around it but tall and I was able to get some branches.. Cut any size and try..

Droopy thanks ...i dont have the others you mention.

These are fun.. I used to do it with pussywillow also..Mine are dead now..........

Very pretty - I love forsythia but lost mine when we moved several years ago and I have never replaced it. Maybe it's time I think of getting a new bush.

They do make a gorgous hedge in the spring.. Loads of them here in our area.

That was a great idea to post that. That bush is one of the first to bloom here. Several branches in a vase make the perfect thing toi hacve in your home during this period.

Thanks, it is a yearly thing for me to do.. My bushes are quite tall and I will show them off come spring..........

I used to do pussywillows but they are long gone..Were a beetle magnet......

Yes...those pussywillows are fun to do. They look really nice inside.
I wonder what kind of beetle you guys have that attacks them.

japanese beetles.......all year long.. they chew might holes on all flowers....

I spray and pick and you name it ..Plant Marigolds to help deter them?//
What ever.
