Here in Holland there are shops that pick up old and unwanted furniture and then sell it at knock down prices. I have gotten some absolute bargains and am becoming seriously addicted to scouring these places! Today I took delivery of this darling:

It's more vintage than antique but I absolutely love it. What I REALLY loved was the price. Are you ready for this? 25 Euros which is about $35. No kidding.

Anyone else out there got themselves a great bargain on an older piece? Please share!

Thank you! I am really pleased with it. A couple of weeks ago I found a set of oak nesting tables for about $11! I also took delivery of another piece today but it's something a little special so I paid several hundred dollars for it - not that I'm complaining! It would cost me far more in the US and it's just gorgeous. I am having some friends come over at the weekend to help me get the top piece hoisted up into place and will take pics when it's all done.

Most of the furniture in these places comes from old peoples' homes who have passed on and either don't have any family to inherit the furniture or the family simply don't want it. Here in Holland, most people seem to prefer more modern styles so this stuff just gets packed off without much thought. I can't tell you how pleased I am about that!

I'd love to see other antique bargains - I am sure you all have some good deals hiding at home!

That's the reason I keep going to garage sales. Furniture that's made with care and real wood, that isn't going to go all wobbly in a month. Congrats on a great find!
