Returning from town today, we passed the Eagles nest, and as always, I looked up. There was an Eagle there for only the second time (that I have seen) this winter season. She (?) must be there to do some early spring cleaning. That last picture I was looking at the Eagle, trying to get a profile that showed her, and forgot to line up the shot. They have been here all winter, I have seen them often soaring over the woods and the lake, but not at the nest.

The eagles are so majestic and big! Lovely birds. We occasionally get to see them fly fairly low, and the size of the wing span takes my breath away. I'm glad you managed to photograph her/him. Well done!

Awesome sight, and how lucky you are to have them nesting nearby. They fly over our area frequently but there's no nest in our immediate area. A pair has been nesting at a neighboring lake for many years, and the lake association sets out buoys so that boaters won't disturb them when they've got babies in the nest.
The ice fishermen all leave the fish guts out on the ice for them and they come within 50 feet to eat it up. Once a friend of ours had just caught a northern and had it on the stringer on top of the ice...he went inside his ice shanty for just a minute, and that was enough time for an eagle to come down and snatch his catch!!! It's great to see their comeback after the DDT scare so many years ago.

Oh boy it sounds as though they're getting prepared for nesting season alright Tom!! Do keep us informed if they do nest and produce eggs won't you? Just imagine we might actually get to see some piccies of the eaglets - can't wait!!!!

Aren't they fun to watch? We have them all along the river here, and they often perch in the trees outside my window. Hard to get pictures of them though.
Twice over the years, my husband has had shredded fish pieces drop onto his head from eagles overhead. It's like they aim for him.

Someone fixed a platform to the top of a power pole not far from here, on a rural road. A pair has lived there for years.
