http://www.gadling.com/2008/02/01/best-prank-ever-stopping-time-at-grand-central-station/

This looks like another cool Flash Mob action taking place in New York.
The Flash Mob idea was conceived in New York, I believe, some years ago but it is also quite active here in Europe.
The idea is to do something harmless but strange for a short tiome then melt-away--but do it with as many participants as possible.
It is secretly organised months in advance and once it has all been arranged, then the participants get the call or an SMS/text and away they go dressed in normal clothing so as to blend in with everyone else. They are in crowded places and once everything is set up the signal is given (sometimes an agreed-upon time beforehand) and they do their thing for a minute then melt away into the crowd again and disappear.
Take a look at this one and see what you think.
Turn your sound on, for music and commentary. You can hear peoples reactions.

Thats funny to watch. But to be there when it happens would be a very strange thing to see someone just stop and do nothing as if frozen in place.

I must be getting old or else I've been living out of the big city for too long...never heard of doing anything like this before. Pretty cool idea, though.

That looks like major fun. I can just imagine the consternation for those who do not participate in the action itself. WOW.

I love this group - Improv Everywhere has done a number of very fun things with group events, this was great and the London one was even better. There was one where they seriously freaked out the security in a record store by all turning to zombies at the listening centers too. Very Happy
