In searching through all our saved pictures, I came across my hubbys hobbie, take a look:

These next ones were carved out a knot of a tree:

A horse for the handle of a walking stick

This bear is holding his lunch

bear w/his fish, mushroom, woodstool

This is another thing he enjoys doing, when not putting our computers together, or helping me in the garden. Please enjoy.

Wow, he is very good at carving. Those knot hole heads are adorable, especially the Santa.
But I think my favorite is the first one, he did a great job in finding and releaseing the image of the tree spirit.

Wow Petunia, your hubby is very talented. I'm quite taken with that walking stick. Wonderful detail on the bear. Where did he learn to do this?

Awesome carving! My friend has taken a few classes and made me my own walking stick. It's on display right near my front door ready to go!

Frank: he learned on his own-just started out wittling on wood and kept on with it. Now him and my daughter go to a carving class together near us.

Kuntrygal: he does sell his things from time to time.
Glendann: I am proud of him. He made walking sticks for 3 of his grandkids at Chritmas.

Thankyou all others for your comments all are very appreciated. My daughter has picked this up from him and I hope she continues to enjoy it. She also tries her hand at gardening as I try to give her info from time to time on that as well.

Thanks Droopy.
Out of these I like the bear holding the fish. Hubby has also carved a similiar fish and put a clock into it, for my daughter.
A 4 ft bear stands just outside our gazebo with a welcome sign.

Those are awesome! He sure does have talent. And i also believe just like working with paint, plants, pottery or wood, anything that is living, you have to find the spirit in to make it continue to live.... and he did! Well done petunia's hubby!!!

Wow Petunia
Your hubby is fantastic with a knife and a log.
Those are beautifully carved. Each one of them a work of art.

Thanks P.T. This is 'his thing' he enjoys doing.
I have thought about doing woodburning which also can turn out very nice. But right now I just want to stay with gardening, its enough to keep busy with in the spring and summer months.
As previously mentioned my 9 yr old wants to pick up this same thing and has given it a try. Here is acouple of picts at a differant angles. Its a halloween pumpkin. Most of it is done all by her, a little of daddy's help. The yellow background is to have the effect of a candle inside.

Please enjoy.
