Hi all,

Tomorrow the 22nd Feb I will be moving GardenStew onto a new server (computer) on the advice of my hosting company. This means that for a short period posting will be disabled as to not lose any data/postings in the switch-over. The new server will be just as fast but a bit more stable and less prone to random crashes.

Some unforeseen problems may occur (such is life) so apologies for any unnecessary periods of downtime.

Thanks for reading!

Certainly hope the move goes smoothly. I know it will mean many fewer headaches for you when you don't cringe everytime the phone rings.

Hehe in case Toni's comment confuses anyone she is referring to the fact that GardenStew sends me a mobile/cell phone message whenever it crashes. Sometimes (almost always) this occurs while I'm snoozing my head off.

What time will you begin the change-over?..and can you estimate how long you will be out of the air? When I switch server types I was down about 72 hours (without problems).
I hope that yours will not take so long.

IT'S DONE! That wasn't too bad was it? Smile Sorry that I had to disable posting while I got everything in order, I just didn't want folks to lose posts that they had written.

As always there may be a few bugs in the system so if you spot any errors or strange behaviour please let me know!

Thanks you all for your patience!!! Stew Face 1

That was quick and painless. I did notice the posting was disabled but it didn't seem to take very long to get it all done.

The posting was disabled for about 3 hours as I had a small bit of trouble restoring all the posts to show characters other than the English alphabet (i.e. Swedish, Danish characters). As these characters have become more important with new members I thought it best to take a bit longer to get it back 100%.

Thank you for taking our special letters into the new server. I'm a bit surprised at it being done already, but I'm not going to complain. Wink
