Okay, i haven't been posting on the boards a whole lot lately because i have been working on a very big project. It has taken me a week so far and its still not done yet.. now all the time consuming Rosemåling is whats taking up the time. but thats okay this started out as a "therapy project" for me over last week that i had. Now its become a labor of love for me.
This cupboard was bought about a year ago, and i just let it sit there, telling myself,, i'm gonna paint that someday. I just never got around to it,, well someday came, and here is just a sneak peek at what is keeping me from terrorizing the boards..lol.
This cupboard was really beat up, but its solid pine, not one piece of prefab to be found anywhere. this is what it looked like a few days ago,,, thats 3 layers of enamal paint. had to let it dry for a day between each coat.
Now i have it all painted,, but you can't see the end result yet,, but here is one door from the bottom panels that is partially rosemåled.
I still have a few days left, but thats okay,, i really enjoy doing this....so more to come!!!

Oh Bitta, Bitta, Bitta......
That is too grand for words.
You could have better NOPT have shown that little beginning on the Rosemåling...for it has caused the most enormous amount of curiosity to see the rest. I'm going to be very unrestful until you have finished and shown the end product.
Itllos supurb with such nice lines. Well done you! Don't let that paintbrush out of your hand for a second

Looks like the perfect project for this time of year. Have you taken any classes? I don't know too much about the art form, just that it originated in Norway. Can't wait to see the end product.

Thank you,, I do a little then i take a break and do something else. that one little piece on the door panel took 1 hour to do.. its a very easy technic, but the small detail is what takes the time. That is a combination of the Os and Telemark style of painting. I've never had a lesson, but i have painted all my life. Just not this way,,lol. I also choose to use acrylic over the oil to achieve the "hard" look to it, not to smooth. The cupboard is smooth enough.
btw, i got that cupboard at our island "thrift store" for 600 NOK, not sure how much that is in dollars but i know its not alot. should be around 60-70 dollars give or take a few.

Biita, your 600 NOK converts to about $112 U.S. and is a fantastic bargain. I certainly would have been trying to figure out where to put it at that price.

You call that a hobby - gosh I think you can make a living off your hobby. That is stunning - I cannot wait to see the finished product.
