I mixed up potting soil and compost with perlite and filled lots of pots to start seeds tomorrow.I took pictures of bees on my jasmine made some birdhouses out of my gourds .I took one and made a petunia hanging pot plant.Just piddled around.Enjoying the wonderful 77 to 80 degrees temp. with light wind .
Here is one of the bees I caught with my camera.
In flight too.
My bird house after I hung it in the tree
One side the glue had not dried on the perch .When it does its clear.
The other side
My hanging pot holder .I hope you can see it ok.

Glenda you had a busy day. I know the weather was wonderful and very conducive to doing outside jobs. I need some of your compost . If I were to start a compost, the neighbors would start screaming from the smell. I remember my FIL's was the most awful smelling thing, but he had a beautiful garden
Your gourds are darling. You did a wonderful job on them. I need to get some at my flea market in a couple of weeks. And the planter is very unique. I hadn't thought of making a planter out of a gourd.
And your picture of the is excellent.

The gourd as a plant holder is cool. Do you put in drainage holes or let the water remain since it dries so quickly in the planter? Seems like it might be o.k. not to have the holes for such a small container. I know this sounds like potted plant heresy but where it is a drought/heat problem, there are times some of the rules bend.

Thank you dirt2diamonds I drilled one small hole for drainage on the very bottom.I did the same thing for the birdhouse .If rain blows in it will drain and not drown the babies if I ever get any.

I love your gourds! You've been busy preparing, good luck on your sowing. Hope they all sprout and make you happy.

Just look at what you've done, Glenndan! Such great fotos. I can't tell if that little bee is indeed a bee or a hoverfly--whichever it is, it is a great foto, flower and all.
It sure sounds like you are getting busy now.
The gourds make great little birdhouses, don't they. I have tried to grow different types here, but it seems simply too moist in this kikkerland (froggyland) of mine.
Nevermind, it does not deter me from enjoying the success of others. Yours look perfect.
Justr out of curiosity, what size holes are in them and for what bird(s) are they intended?
I ask this question because here, hole diameter completely determines which bird will nest in the house.
Now Glenndan, you keep a sharp eye out and take a foto the first sign of an avian visitor to "Gourd Cottage".
Congrats on producing those planters, birdhouses and fotos. They are tremendous to see. Thank you very much.

You have been busy Glenda! I love your birdhouse, in fact I have a gourd very similar to that one that I plan to paint up. It will be my first attempt so we shall see how it turns out.
