Anybody going to make something new in the decoration department this year?
Here's our Easter window from last year:
The branch fell off the plum tree. I like it because of all the little twigs. The yellow chickens are made of foam sheets. The eggs are either painted or wrapped in onion leaves and boiled.
That little chicken is made from wool. One of the girls did that at school.

I have a Easter wreath that I bought last year that I put up by the front door... I have no idea what to do this year. I like your idea though....now to find a branch that my lab doesn't want to chew on...LOL One spring I planted a hydrangea tree (it looked like a stick when I first put in in the ground) and my dog thought it was one of her sticks and I didn't realize at first what she was chewing on until quite a few of the small branches were gone...
The decorations are adorable...

Now that is remarkable work!...so cheery and Eastery. I'll bet that you guys had so much fun making it. A novel idea for a mobile. All the little twigs not only look good, but give you lots of choice for attatchments. Bril!
It caught my eye that you boiled some of the eggs wrapped in onion leaves. What colour does that make the shells, then? You're just full of tricks, aren't you.
It was such a good idea I am glad that you showed this. Thanks.

Oh now I like that Droopy - I really do!!!  We don't decorate our home for Easter any more as there's just Ian and myself here now. I still buy my 'kids' chocolate Easter eggs though!!

Oh, dear, Sherry, did you manage to save the bush or is it gone forever?
Sjoerd, the eggs get brownish tints to them. It looks a bit like knotted, dyed work.
Eileen, I have an egg all to myself. We all do. We're probably going to be childish about Easter eggs forever.

I really like how you hung the branch instead of trying to get it to stand properly in a vase!
My weaknesses are those cheap little decorative chicks that have been around forever, real chicks (I'm planning on getting some in April), and black licorice jelly beans.

Thank you CP. We haven't got table space for a big branch like that, and its shape suggested hanging instead of standing. We've got those cheap chicks too. Lots of them. They are everywhere come Easter.

I like hanging eggs on branches. We blew eggs, dyed them and hung them on branches in the library one year. The kids loved it. You should see a child between three and five blowing eggs. It was a gigantic mess but they had fun doing it. You can use a number of different vegetables to dye eggs. The older kids experiments with that process. There were some truly individual colors. We don't do much decorating for Easter since the boys are gone from home. dooley

Thank you. Yes, blowing eggs is a mess, but it's such fun to do. We make some new ones every year, because we always manage to crush some while decorating or putting away.
Dooley, I know I can use herbs and such, but have never bothered going into the subject. Maybe I should. It sounds interesting.

Gosh this is all so new for me.
Just trying to drink in the festivities. (or planned festivities)
Gosh I was just thinking - I never really had time to celebrate easter. I was always working  .
Now my children are grown up and the youngest one is not even interested (she is 16 going on 17 or shoudl I say 27).
I MISSED OUT.

Last year we dipped coffee filters in easter-egg dye (we didn't want all those eggs) and hung them to dry they trimmed them like flowers. Taped in the window they let light through like stained glass, the kids loved it.

One year when my kids were much younger, I remember an elem teacher brought in eggs that had been blowen.
The kids decorated and hung the eggs from a hanger and made a mobile out of the hanging eggs. They turned out really nice.
