but they are so tiny - even smaller than last year. Whats happening? I have not planted these and they were there when we moved in. Are they too old now? Planning to put in new blubs next year :(

Do they look cramped? Then they probably need to be dug up and put back down further apart. They make new bulbs every year and need redistribution every few years.

There is bulbs all over my moms old yard.They come back over and over and as Droopy said they need to spread out.

No, they are not cramped. I redistributed them. But maybe I did that too late. I dug them up and replanted them only last week :(
When should I have done that?

When the foliage browns & dies back, dig them up and replant where you want them.
You could give them some bone meal now to help perk them up.

I am going to be doing alot of dividing this yr. Some of my daffs have been here since 1972. So there is always a patch that needs division. And deadheading over 1000 blooms is never fun. lol
