Since the cats obviously enjoy the alpaca yarn so much, I decided to make them a toy. I cast on 12 stitches in double, three-tread alpaca, and knitted long enough for it to make four squares. I then picked up 12 stitches along the edge on each side and knitted squares. This is what it looked like:

This is the ball sewn together at the sides:

I stuffed it with cotton wool, because that's what I had available this evening, and sewed up the top. And then the test. Will she like it?

Oh, yes, she did!

Snuske has played with it a lot this evening, but Lord Paint hasn't bothered. He got to suck on it while I knitted, and that was obviously enough. Ah, well.

There really MUST be something about alpaca wool that cats enjoy so much Question
Snuske certainly seems to be having a great time with her new toy. It would have been lovely if Lord Paint had decided to join in the game too but obviously football isn't his forte!!! Laughing

What a total success, Droopy. You have an inventive mind, don't you?
Too bad Lord Paint didn't show much interest...
Oh well, at least the one cat had a ball. Wink
Nice work.

I think Lord Paint likes his toys more heavy. He's good at stealing the girls' play ponies to play with, and they are fairly big. Well, we'll see. He might need some time to adjust to it.

Marvelous Droopy.

Snuske is a beautiful cat and so playful.
You know - I used to think that only kittens play. It sure is lovley to see bigger cats enjoying themselves like that. Cool

I will invite Snuske to come and play with Snoppy anytime. Wink Even though he is a doggie I think he will love a smaller playmate.

Lord Paint sounds like he is full of mischief. The rascal. Laughing

Thank you, Palm Tree. She is a lovely, little girl, but she doesn't like dogs much. I believe she finds them too loud and boisterous. Both cats steal the girls' toys for some reason. Lively, mischievous cats are the best. Very Happy

What a neat idea Droopy. Alpaca yarn seems to have a catnip effect on your cats, wonder what they would do if they ever encountered the Alpaca itself?

Thank you all. Smile If they met an alpaca, they'd probably run and hide quick! Snuske is used to horses, but we don't know much about Lord Paint.
