We had our quarterback retire...the great Brett Farve will not return next season...I watched his good-byes today on television and as he cried, I cried... He had been in Green Bay for 16 years as our quarterback and he will be missed by many...I am a Green Bay Packer fan , even when they loose.

He retired a few years back. Till the season got close and all of a sudden he was back in. I'll believe it this time when or if the season starts without him.

I was bummed when Tiki Barber retired, sad when Shockey was hurt for the end of the season. But as you know we still won the Superbowl. Now I have some new players to get to know and admire.

Sorry a favorite is leaving (We'll see) Sherry but theres always the new guys!

Bret Favre has been a stalwart on Sundays for 17 years. For some of the younger fans, he has been there all their lives, for others, like me, 17 years seems like all my life. In either event, watching the Packers on Sunday, has been the Bret Favre show. The sight of Bret taking the snap, dropping back the 6 steps and turning to throw, dodging a charging linebacker, pumping a to the left giving the ball that pat with his left hand, and firing a bullet between to defenders , into the hands of Donald Driver, well, it just won't be the same. Aaron Rogers, or some other Quarterback may do the same things, and the 6 step drop, the dodge, the fake to the left, and the pass to Driver may net the same 10 yards, but it won't be quite as much fun. The moves, the prancing around as he looks for a receiver, the little pat Bret always gave the ball, the velocity on the ball, it will all be different, and the excitement after the play, the jubilation of a 15 year old kid completing his first pass, It's the whole package that is Bret Favre. Oh, we will win games and lose games, we will win championships, we will jump for joy as they win a big game, or slump into a chair, sad, as they lose a big game. But the wins won't be quite as much fun, the losses won't be quite as sad, and the championships won't be quite the same. I can remember loosing Lombardi, Bart Starr retiring, Paul Hornung, Jim Taylor, and that whole team of the 60s going their own way. And as good and loved as those guy were, and believe me they were well loved and good, there is a special magic when Bret steps out on the field, that is all his, and won't be equaled ever. A guy with the whole package only comes along once. Was he the best, well, that will be debated for ever, but for me, I can't imagine anyone that I would rather watch play quarterback. Win or lose. And that makes him the best in my book.
Tom

Tom...you said it a lot better than I could...Thank you. I have the pictures from that last game they won at Lambeau Field if you want me to send them to you...I printed mine up and put them in a booklet. It is a lot of pictures so you can't have dial-up. My DH sent it to me with powerpoint. It is in an album that the photographer put together. If you would like them , let me know in a private message with your e-mail.

He may come back...but he is not as popular in our area now...anyone that checked out other teams after saying how he loved the Packers....what we have heard is not good. I really don't feel they will keep him here in Green Bay...But that is my opinion...if the other quarterback stinks he might get to play if he is here. Time will tell.

Their is a picture of Brett circulating with a baby crying as his head...he did this all wrong.
