...but no month of May in sight.
It's been gray, cold, rainy, sleety, snowy...you name it--but not nice--for days and days now. It's time for a little colour. A little trip down memory lane helps me alot.
Centaurea macrocephala
Salix integra...I think it's the integra, but not 100% sure.

Ahhh your trip down memory lane has certainly put a smile on my face.  We in Scotland are having the same weather you are over there so it's lovely to have something to brighten our lives. Thanks for posting your photographs.

With the week starting out on rather a bumpy side, these picture help a whole bunch. The first picture reminds me of the bright yellow sun. Thanks for posting.

I love the Centaurea macrocephala in the first photo. The blooms look like paint brushes, and the buds are so papery golden. The poppies are lovely, and so is the needle. We've tried that twice with no success. I like the shock-effect in the last photo.

Thanks for giving me the Latin name for that first one, Droopy.
The needles are difficult even here. They like it dryer and warmer than what we have in West-friesland.
Having said that, I did manage to get 3 of the 5 corms to produce flowers stalks. I went to extreems a bit when planting them, though I must confess. My partner was laughing from the wings at my exaggerated technique; however, I had done my homework and knew that they would be a challenge in the best of conditions here in Nederland. The rabbits have chewed-off their leaf shutes already this spring, so I do not know what I will get in the way of flower stalks this year.
I wanted to leave the memory of those 'shocking' colours or flowers as the last image.
Oh fooey, Eileen. Then you have to be as mopey as I am with all this constant rain and wind. BAH!
I am sorry to hear that your week started off a bit bumpy there, Petunia. I am thrilled that the pics helped, though. That put a smile on MY face. Thanks.
I intentially began the presentatioon with that yellow one precisely because it DID like a bit like the sun.
I'm glad you liked the fotos, Palm...you know, you may or may not not like the Eremurus stenophyllus, but it would grow well for you there in SA, I believe.

Great photos once again Sjoerd. I certainly need cheering up too. (Last weeks meltdown uncovered all my gardens and got me all excited just to have another 2 snow storms cover them in feet of fresh snow. BAH )
I love those Poppy's and that Salix.

Thanks for the pics Sjoerd, I also have had a very long winter and am sooo ready for spring. Those pics put a smile on my face for sure. I also enjoy taking pics of my flowers. I'm working on converting some of them to smaller files so I can post them as well. Thanks again for sharing.
