My wife & I drove back to West Texas today and went right through the fire area. We took this picture. Awful, isn't it? We saw cowboys out mending burned fences and in one place, we saw how the fire burned right up to a house & the house looked fine. Guess somebody protected the house. It was raining lightly this afternoon - thank God!

Oh my, it looks dreadful. I'm so glad the house wasn't harmed.

Oh my - that looks dreadful.
Lucky about the little rain then. I also hope that no animals were harmed in the fire.

I hate to see this kind of devastation and think of all the wildlife and people who could have lost their lives. I hope it keeps raining now to dampen everything down properly. Let's hope the land can regenerate after such a severe scorching.

Gosh that looks sad but I do hope knowone or anything lost their lives.
Usually after a fire like that it comes back better than ever and much greener. The ranchers and farmers around here do controled burns on their land all of the time.

Rain is a fine, fine thing - here's hoping they'll soon see renewed green where the burns happened.

Spring is our "rainy" season, if you can call it that. We get about 18 inches of rain a year. Last year, we got way more than that, which made for lots of growth all over the South Plains and then, fuel for wildfires this year when it was dry & windy. We are under a burn ban right now - no fires for trash pits, or controlled burns at all. If we get some good rain, they'll lift the burn ban.
