|
To all that have Windows Vista: Microsoft have just released their first service pack for Vista. It contains a variety of bug fixes and increased compatibility with devices and applications. There are said also to be minor performance increases.
I have upgraded tonight and it went smoothly. To install the upgrade you need to run Windows Update (click start button and do a search for 'Windows Update'), click 'Check for updates' and install the update that says 'Windows Vista Service Pack 1'. The installation takes 40-60 minutes and your computer will restart a number of times.

Thanks for keeping us so up to date with all new developments on the computer front.
ALthough I am not yet on Vista I will probable join the fray in about two months time when I have enough funds to upgrade to a better system.

Hi Trudy have you installed all previous updates that Windows Update lists? I know for a fact that one of the earlier 'minor' updates is required if you are to install SP1.

Hmmm does it give a specific reason why it cannot update? If you have installed all previous updates there 'should' be no problem. Then again it is Vista and some folks have being having lot of issues with it.

From what I have quickly read online that code appears to indicate that Vista cannot contact/reach the update server to download the updates. This could be due to your Internet connection. Is it possible to reboot both your modem and your computer and try again Trudy?
