You just never know what you can do with something when you first buy it. Sometimes you buy it because there is a little voice in your head saying you need that, it will come in handy someday. That little voice talks to me a lot, that's why my craft room is so filled with stuff. Rolling Eyes

I bought 4 of these really neat boxes at a thrift store back last fall. They were only $1 each and something about them just drew me to them. The lids were hinged to the bottom and there was a small clasp to keep them closed. I have no idea what they were made for but they were interesting....then they sat on a shelf in my room for almost 5 months.

Then the little 'idea lightbulb' hovering over my head everytime I looked at them suddenly lit up.
I took the lids off, saving the hinges and clasps for possible future use of course. I had these tiny eye bolts in my bits and pieces box that were perfect for the job.

I painted each one a different color, blue, green, red and orange. And found 4 shepherd crooks for hanging them out in the garden, 2- 4 feet tall and 2-6 feet tall.I bought a bag of bird food that is a mix of cracked corn, black oil sunflower seeds and hold in the shell peanuts. We have several Blue Jays hanging around the backyard so maybe the peanuts will attract them, I know they will attract the squirrels

I do the same, but unlike me you actually find good use for the "ought-to-haves" Toni. Well done! Very Happy

Thanks y'all.
I wanted to get pictures of a female Cardinal on the one close to the house but she flew away before I could get the camera. Then I scared off a gorgeous male sitting in the Fig tree waiting his turn when I stepped outside.

Maybe when they get used to the feeders I can get a good picture.

I love those feeders. They are so cheerful and so useful!!! Everything that 'calls' to me I tend to get steered away from by Ian!! Sad

Those are too creative Toni that's a great idea. I always end up with things I "need" going out the door with someone whose idea bulb comes on earlier than mine lol!

What a great idea Toni. I can definately relate about the "got to have it" , the "my craft room is full of stuff" and the "idea bulb going off". I'm not sure I would have come up with that one though. They look great and I can't wait to see some pics of them in use.

You always do so well with those ideas.
And here you've done it again. Those boxes are a great idea to feed the birds. Wonderful idea.

Everytime I try to sneak out for pictures of the birds enjoying their new dining experience they fly away.
But this morning I was sitting in my bloom house taking a break and caught these Doves at one of the feeders.
