I don't know if the Europeans get these reruns or not. Andy of Mayberry with Andy Griffith and Don Knotts. Well Don Knotts played a deputy named Barney Fife in this long running sitcom. He died yesterday at the age of 81. He also did at least 25 movies and was in 4 other TV shows over here. The one bit that was so funny was that he was such a goofy deputy, the sherrif only gave him one bullet and he had to carry it in his shirt pocket. I will surely miss him as he was one of the very best. They were shows that you weren't afraid to let your kids watch.

I read about him on BBC News and I recognized who he was. I remembered he was in the Herbie movies but I never saw any of the series he was in.

I first saw Barney Fife (Don Knotts) on the Steve Allen show. That dates me because Steve Allen was before Jack Paar, who was before Johnny Carson, who was before Jay Leno. Barney Fife never lost his humor and was funny what ever he was doing. He was a good guy! Dooley

I remember him from the Herbie films too but don't recall seeing any of his other stuff. It's always sad when we lose a 'real' comedian and such a nice man to boot. Crying or Very sad

Don Knotts was a truly unique personality. Has there ever been anyone like him? And his comedic timing was impeccable. I loved him in "The Incredible Mr. Limpid" (not sure of the spelling). He will be missed.
