Good morning,
I have woken up to 55 degree weather this morning and my house in being overran by ladybugs and flies. This all started when my fiance installed our corn stove about a month ago, every year we get ladybugs, but I haven't seen them this bad before. My two year old absolutely loves them, I have even caught him eating them, ewww... Does anyone have any suggestions????

Well there's always one solution as far as the ladybugs go - you could send them to me!!!  Seriously though I really don't know what you can do about them infesting your home. I hope someone else can help you out.

We get that every spring out here in the country. The cluster flies can get yucky, but I welcome the Lady Bugs. It will pass soon newyorkgardener, hang in there!

Are they the lady bug or the Asian bug that looks like them? Our Asian bite...and it hurts for a second . It has happened a couple times. I don't think your little one would like them after he gets bitten a few times...
I have no idea what to do with them. When we had so many mosquitoes in the house (we had a woods in our backyard) I used to put the long extensions on the vacuum cleaner and suck them up...Good Luck...

I have been using our mini shop-vac to suck them up...my son's daycare said they would take some for a project next week...at least I'll get rid of some of them...LOL

I wish I had some of the ladybugs. What I do have is mosquitoes (why, why, why in such a dry country?). I haven't tried the vacuum cleaner- good idea. I did buy some of those little things you plug in the wall to make them leave. (I swear I heard the mosquitoes laughing at me.) They are useless. I am going to break out my vacuum cleaner....

Ladybugs can climb back out of a vaccuum. I get them here too. This is one of the worst years for them. Check your windows, sometimes a new strip of caulking around them helps keep them out. There is a box elder bug killer spray that also kills ladybugs, but you probably dont want a poison if the little one is putting them in his mouth. The asian ones taste horrid, had one land on the rim of my glass just as I was taking a sip. Aaack!
My friend had them in his house, had to do a flea bomb, he said that got rid of the ladybugs as well/

If they are true Ladybugs, get as many as you can outside before you have to resort to killing the ones inside. They are beneficial insects to have in the garden.

I am currently trapping them to give to Gavin's daycare for pets...LOL... they are having a ball with them, it is now starting to warm up, so maybe they'll finally get outside...

I recently had a BIG problem with lady bugs in the house. I had also had a problem with ants and the guy put a powder around windows, under stove, beside fridge, etc. Got rid of the ants and lady bugs. I have also killed a few lady bugs that were in the house. They STINK something terrible. I don't know if they were a different species... they were kinda orange, instead of red. My attic must have been full of them, because on the outside of the house (mobile home) under the eve you can see millions of them ...dead!

Do you grow / can you get some catmint (Nepeta)? If you do, crush a few leaves (grind them in a mixer if you wish) and add some methylated spirit. Spray a little here and there at night, in all corners, cracks and drak, hard to get places (like gaps between cupboards and the walls). All your bugs will be gone by the morning. It attracts bees though and actually smells quite OK. It does no harm, but may stain linen / upholstery.

I've got the same problem. They live inside my house where it's warm all winter, but now that it's beginning to warm up outside, they seem to be moving out. Thanks goodness! I hope yours do the same.
